Did you restart pgadmin3 after deleting?
Did you look at pgadmin3.log to see if there are any obvious related errors?
Just as a wild thought, if you su as root and run pgadmin3 as root, does the problem still occur?

OK, that revealed a couple of things:

1) It's running the queries I'd expect to populate the blank lists, so
it's really a display issue.

2) You're running a debug build.

So,

1) Please try selecting the View -> Default View option from the menu,
to reset the layout.

2) Why are you running a debug build?

don't think so:

The log has:

INFO   : 18:54:15: Running a DEBUG build.

and that is only output if the build was done with the WXDEBUG flag set. It shouldn't make any difference here, but isn't the norm.

in the log i can't see any result for queries except fetching the pg_log-files. but i'm not 100% shure where to look at.

This query, for example, is used to populate the Activity pane:

SELECT p.pid AS pid, application_name, datname, usename,
CASE WHEN client_port=-1 THEN 'local pipe' WHEN length(client_hostname)>0 THEN client_hostname||':'||client_port ELSE textin(inet_out(client_addr))||':'||client_port END AS client,
date_trunc('second', backend_start) AS backend_start, CASE WHEN state='active' THEN date_trunc('second', query_start)::text ELSE '' END AS query_start,
date_trunc('second', xact_start) AS xact_start, state, date_trunc('second', state_change) AS state_change, backend_xid::text, backend_xmin::text, (SELECT min(l1.pid) FROM pg_locks l1 WHERE GRANTED AND (relation IN (SELECT relation FROM pg_locks l2 WHERE l2.pid=p.pid AND NOT granted) OR transactionid IN (SELECT transactionid FROM pg_locks l3 WHERE l3.pid=p.pid AND NOT granted))) AS blockedby,
query AS query,
CASE WHEN query_start IS NULL OR state<>'active' THEN false ELSE query_start < now() - '10 seconds'::interval END AS slowquery
FROM pg_stat_activity p ORDER BY 1 ASC

If I'm honest, I'm pretty stumped now. I can't see any reason why the data wouldn't be displayed. Anyone else?

btw: Still waiting for postgres running on 16.10 yaketty. would like to install the newest version of pgadmin4.

If we can find a Debian/Ubuntu packager, I'd be happy to oblige. :-/

Tried the query using psql - and of course it's returning data.

May be you should add an info about returned data in the debug log? something like "77 lines received"

First i'll use a network sniffer (wireshark) to see the answer sent to the client.
Next i'll install pgadmin4 from source (no big problem for me but using packets for such a tool is much easier)

thank's for your patience
Walter

We've released the last ever version of pgAdmin III now, so that
change won't happen I'm afraid.

OK. Please let us know if that makes a difference. I can't see that it
would - but then, I can't see what would cause this anyway. It's very,
very odd.

Hmm, I'm not an Ubuntu user, but I grabbed a copy and gave it a try
and found I needed to install the following:

qt5-default
python-dev
libqt5webkit5-dev

That was enough to build the runtime - of course, there's more to do
to get the Python side going, but the README should help with that.

One caveat - for v1.2 we're moving from QtWebKit to QtWebEngine by
default, plus we have some other fixes in the runtime to make it more
stable. Unfortunately it seems that Ubuntu don't yet include
QtWebEngine, though it is on it's way according to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/+bug/1579265/comments/6

That's what i had to install too. Before the make.

don't think, that's a python problem.

i can't find any package for qt5 with QtGui/QAction. Only QtWidgets/QAction

see

#apt-file search QAction
libqt4-dev: /usr/include/qt4/QtGui/QAction
libqt4-dev: /usr/include/qt4/QtGui/QActionEvent
libqt4-dev: /usr/include/qt4/QtGui/QActionGroup
libqt53drender5-gles: /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/Qt3DInput/QAction
libqt53drender5-gles: /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/Qt3DInput/QActionInput
libunity-scopes-qt-dev: /usr/include/unity-scopes-qt-0.2/unity/scopes/qt/QActionMetadata.h
qt3d5-dev: /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/Qt3DInput/QAction
qt3d5-dev: /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/Qt3DInput/QActionInput
qtbase5-dev: /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/QtGui/QActionEvent
qtbase5-dev: /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/QtWidgets/QAction
qtbase5-dev: /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/QtWidgets/QActionGroup
qtbase5-gles-dev: /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/QtGui/QActionEvent
qtbase5-gles-dev: /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/QtWidgets/QAction
qtbase5-gles-dev: /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/QtWidgets/QActionGroup
#

i'll wait until somebody created a package for ubuntu 16.10 yaketti :(

That's basically what I get as well. Note that the file you're having
issues with is ui_ConfigWindow.h which is actually auto-generated. In
the Makefile that's created by qmake, I have the following to create
that. What do you get?

ui_ConfigWindow.h: ConfigWindow.ui       /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/bin/uic ConfigWindow.ui -o
ui_ConfigWindow.h

i got the same:

ui_ConfigWindow.h: ConfigWindow.ui    /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/bin/uic ConfigWindow.ui -o
ui_ConfigWindow.h

and of this:

/********************************************************************************
** Form generated from reading UI file 'ConfigWindow.ui'
**
** Created by: Qt User Interface Compiler version 4.8.7
**
** WARNING! All changes made in this file will be lost when recompiling
UI file!
********************************************************************************/

#ifndef UI_CONFIGWINDOW_H
#define UI_CONFIGWINDOW_H

#include <QtCore/QVariant>
#include <QtGui/QAction>
#include <QtGui/QApplication>
#include <QtGui/QButtonGroup>
#include <QtGui/QDialog>
#include <QtGui/QDialogButtonBox>
#include <QtGui/QFormLayout>
#include <QtGui/QHeaderView>
#include <QtGui/QLabel>
#include <QtGui/QLineEdit>
#include <QtGui/QVBoxLayout>
.....

STRANGE: looks like 4.8.7 and not 5.6 !! using the wrong compiler?
4.8.7 plus 5.6 are installed.

i think i should deinstall 4.8.7-dev, ok?

btw: in 4.8 QtGui/QAction does exist.

walter

That would seem like a good possible solution, yes.
