I have successfully built a number of versions of postgresql on IBM
Power 6/7 servers running AIX 6.1+, using IBM XLC, and it runs quite nicely.

as far as I know, there are no pre-built binaries

that document you posted is specific for EnterpriseDB's proprietary
version of PostgreSQL Advanced Server, which has added Oracle emulation.

We stopped maintaining the list of supported platforms because it seemed
pointless effort. You can see what platforms are constantly being
tested in the buildfarm site:
http://buildfarm.postgresql.org/cgi-bin/show_status.pl

If you have interest in having a platform tested, you can set up a
buildfarm running the platform of interest. This is particularly a good
idea for operating system providers. Given your email address let me
add that I think Suse would do good to set up buildfarm members for the
supported Suse Linux versions on hardware platforms they each support.
