The "general rule" on this is here:

To quote from that page:

| Upgrading to a minor release does not require a dump and restore;
| merely stop the database server, install the updated binaries, and
| restart the server. For some releases, manual changes may be
| required to complete the upgrade, so always read the release notes
| before upgrading.

The release notes for the most recent minor release for each
supported major release is available from the main PostgreSQL page:

In this case, the release notes page is:

which says:

| E.1.1. Migration to Version 9.0.2

| A dump/restore is not required for those running 9.0.X.
