I am runing Postgres 6.4 on two RedHat 5.1 systems.
At one of them, i cannot connect thrugh Unix domain sockets(using psql
or DBI), only thru Internet domain sockets, EXCEPT of when i am logged
in as the Postgres superuser. (It is acting like a opposite of the
postmaster's -i
flag).
I have tried dump/restore of the database, copying the entire data
directory, and creating a hole clean databasesystem with initd.
When i try to connect i get the
ojb@server ojb]$ psql ojb
Connection to database 'ojb' failed.
connectDB() failed: Is the postmaster running and accepting connections
at 'UNIX Socket' on port '5432'?
If i try the "psql -h localhost ojb" it connects successfully.
The kernel has also been modified on the problem-machine. May this be
the reason? Other programs uses Unix sockets OK.
