Обсуждение: Broken links on main site and other issues
Just had a brief nose around the site and found some issue. On http://www.postgresql.org/about/users the following links are broken: Institut de Biologie et Chimie des Protéines article University of Alabama, Birmingham documentation OmniTI case study On http://www.postgresql.org/about/quotesarchive the link to the Database Hacker's Handbook is broken. I don't know if this right or not, but the license info on http://www.postgresql.org/about/press/presskit84.html.en (BSD) doesn't match the main license page: http://www.postgresql.org/about/licence (PostgreSQL) On http://www.postgresql.org/community/international the link to the Turkish PostgreSQL site comes up with an Apache test page: http://www.postgresql.org.tr/ The alphas page contains redundant info about 9.0a4: http://www.postgresql.org/developer/alpha which is linked to by this page: http://www.postgresql.org/developer/testing For some reason, the Turkish press kit on http://www.postgresql.org/about/press/ is served with the text/troff mime type. Is this normal? Thom

Under Translations, the German translation sample chapter link is broken, and the Japanese translation. Under Purchase, none of the links work. Thom

Hmm there is a lot of old stuff on that page - and given that this book is now 10 years old and was only updated to 7.3 (which is now completely unsupported by the community) I wonder if we should just get rid of the whole page? However, if I click on the UK ftp link itself, it actually uses the wwwmaster subdomain, and the rest of the URL is identical. Thom
Any idea what to do about companies with expired links on Professional Support and Hosting Solutions? Without going through them one by one, it's not clear whether they've changed their domain name, or they're no longer running. It would be nice if these could be corrected/tidied up though. Thom

The problem with this is that OS-updates/upgrades can easily override that changeagain - what we need to do is to get this fixed by deploying a suitable .htaccess that disables that mime-type for that directory in apache. I'm planning to fix that soon - I'm just very busy at the moment. Stefan
