I would like to add PAM support PGSQL.  Many people (Microsoft Access users)
have mentioned that this would be a good feature in the past.  I've read the
6.4 source the current authentication scheme doesn't appear to hard to
understand. However, this might present some performance problems as well as
presenting additional installation issues.  I would like this to work
somewhat simmilar to MSQL in that the DBO can give detailed permisions to
tables, create groups and handle other SQL defined permissions.
Additionaly, the ODBC driver would need to be modified to transparantly pass
trusted connection information.  This support should be considered optional
not the default. Hackers would this be a good project to approach or would
it cause more problems than its worth?
