I'm running into a dependency issue trying to install postgresql-8.1.1 on SuSE
10.0.  I've resolved all but one dependency:

error: Failed dependencies:
        initscripts is needed by postgresql-8.1.1-1PGDG

I downloaded a Fedora rpm for initscripts, initscripts-8.11.1-1.i386.rpm, but
got Red Hat specific errors:

error: Failed dependencies:
        /etc/redhat-release is needed by initscripts-8.11.1-1
        /sbin/fuser is needed by initscripts-8.11.1-1
        /sbin/nash is needed by initscripts-8.11.1-1
        /sbin/runuser is needed by initscripts-8.11.1-1
        SysVinit >= 2.85-38 is needed by initscripts-8.11.1-1
        dev is needed by initscripts-8.11.1-1
        mount >= 2.11l is needed by initscripts-8.11.1-1
        mkinitrd < 4.0 conflicts with initscripts-8.11.1-1


What do I need to do to resolve this dependency on SuSE 10.0?  I've checked
various sites I normally use to download stuff that isn't bundled with the
distro, but nothing comes up for a SuSE-specific initscripts rpm.

Hmm. It seems that you are trying to install Fedora Core / Red Hat RPM to
SuSE.

Use these RPMs instead:

ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/postgresql/postgresql-8.1.1/
