I have started getting cannot open segment 1 of table name errors. This
problem seems to come and go.

What causes these errors and how so I fix them?

Redhat 7.2
Postgresql 7.2.1

I am using google to find the answer but have come up with nothing. I
see a few who have asked but have seen no answers.

Please let me know if I need to provide more information,

Don't know what causes it, but our recent troubles with this error were
cleared up (at least for now!  Knock, knock!) by doing:

REINDEX TABLE tablename;
VACUUM FULL tablename;
