Обсуждение: editing postgresql.conf for network access
I have PostgreSQL 7.1.1 running on FreeBSD 4.3. The startup script uses pg_ctl; and instructs users to edit /usr/local/pgsql/data/postgresql.conf to change startup options. I've looked at the file; and am not sure how to change the connection parameters. (I'm assuming that I can't just type '-i' and expect it to work.) I've already edited the host access configuration file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Andrew __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? in postgresql.conf, find the entry:
#tcpip_socket = false
and modify it to
tcpip_socket = true
(i.e., comment and change to true to enable distributed postgres
capabilities)
this is the equivalent of the cmdline "-i" option
good luck!

TIP 4: Don't 'kill -9' the postmaster
Thanks! That did the network trick. For anyone who uses ODBC to access PostgreSQL and is upgrading to PostgreSQL 7.1.*: you may have to upgrade your ODBC driver. The driver that comes in the old postdrv.exe file can connect to the database; but displays an empty list of tables. The newer version, psqlodbc-07_01_0005.zip, seems to work. Have a great day!
