Position: Sr. PostgreSQL DBA/Developer
Location: Woodlawn, MD
Duration: 10 years of Contract

11 years’ experience but will look at candidates below that experience level

Position Description:
The Sr. PostgreSQL Database Administrator/Developer shall have professional experience in database administration, installation, configuration, data modeling, development, testing, troubleshooting, and ETL. The incumbent shall have extensive experience to analyze customers' needs, design a quality proposal, and develop the solution. The incumbent will ensure hardware and software compatibility, and coordinate requirements to project the necessary capacity and proper configuration. The incumbent will develop detailed documentation describing database specifications, integrations, and operating instructions. They will revise existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies. The incumbent will be able to work productively as a database administrator and developer with the ability to integrate with project teams. The incumbent will possess excellent written and spoken communication skills; perform technical documentation, user documentation, and customer presentations as required.

Job Activities:
•    Provide analysis and recommendations of current database designs, schemas, and performance
•    Design and develop database solutions and conversions to satisfy technical and business requirements
•    Analyze existing database schema (DDL) and determine impacts of migration to new schemas and environments
•    Develop data schemas that are performant and meet the requirements of the client
•    Contribute to the analysis and development of the final product
•    Structure projects using best practices and industry standards
•    Provide tests for all code and logic created
•    Schedule meetings to review all changes made
•    Work closely with the development team
•    Apply advanced technical principles, techniques, theories and concepts
•    Support management and customers in answering questions on advanced technical research studies and applications
•    Present designs and implementations to internal and external audiences
•    Prepare weekly status reports of accomplished tasks
•    Occasional travel may be required to Fall Church, VA
