Unfortunately, for tests I need to know MAJORVERSION. In makefile I use

ifndef MAJORVERSION
MAJORVERSION := $(basename $(VERSION))
endif

Is there some similar pattern for meson?


at the end I wrote (based on Postgres's meson build).


Is there some other solution?
