Company Description
Themelia is a crypto index and analytics platform entering a performance and scaling phase. We are seeking a senior engineer with deep PostgreSQL expertise and strong analytical skills to refactor, optimise, and extend our core database functions and schemas. The role focuses on improving the performance and reliability of complex PL/pgSQL functions that power real-time index calculations for thousands of assets.

‍Responsibilities
• Refactor and optimise existing PostgreSQL functions for speed and maintainability
• Design efficient indexing and partitioning strategies for time-series data
• Improve execution plans, caching, and query performance
• Ensure mathematical accuracy in index and price calculations
• Work closely with backend engineers to maintain clean API integration with Python

‍Requirements
• Expert-level SQL and PL/pgSQL programming skills
• Proven experience tuning PostgreSQL for analytical workloads
• Strong understanding of execution plans, CTEs, joins, and indexing strategies
• Comfort with large datasets and time-series data
• Strong mathematical and analytical reasoning

Nice to Have
• Familiarity with Python-based backends (Flask/FastAPI, SQLAlchemy)
• Experience with Redis, Aurora, or TimescaleDB
• Background in quantitative or financial data systems
