Список pgsql-sql

Hi,

I get shared "memory exhausted messages". shared buffers where set to 1Gb. I tried to increase them to 2048 or 1536 and got "error code 8" when trying to launch with pg_ctl.

Windows server 2016 8 Gb

Postgresql 9.6

Below is the postgresql.conf file. Is this shared buffer parameter the main one to change for shared memory problems ?

I read " If you have a system with 1GB or more of RAM, a reasonable starting value for shared_buffers is 1/4 of the memory in your system. "

https://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/Tuning_Your_PostgreSQL_Server

But it seems that I can't go above 1gb, even with a 8 Gbytes memory.

What does this error code 8 means, it does not appear here

https://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.6/errcodes-appendix.html

Thanks for any help,

Olivier

# PostgreSQL configuration file

# -----------------------------

#

# This file consists of lines of the form:

#

#   name = value

#

# (The "=" is optional.)  Whitespace may be used.  Comments are introduced with

# "#" anywhere on a line.  The complete list of parameter names and allowed

# values can be found in the PostgreSQL documentation.

#

# The commented-out settings shown in this file represent the default values.

# Re-commenting a setting is NOT sufficient to revert it to the default value;

# you need to reload the server.

#

# This file is read on server startup and when the server receives a SIGHUP

# signal.  If you edit the file on a running system, you have to SIGHUP the

# server for the changes to take effect, or use "pg_ctl reload".  Some

# parameters, which are marked below, require a server shutdown and restart to

# take effect.

#

# Any parameter can also be given as a command-line option to the server, e.g.,

# "postgres -c log_connections=on".  Some parameters can be changed at run time

# with the "SET" SQL command.

#

# Memory units:  kB = kilobytes        Time units:  ms  = milliseconds

#                GB = gigabytes                     min = minutes
