No Login to System Account for Postgres

Dear all ,

This is just a speculation
Can I run  PostgreSQL super user with a system account thats not allowed
to login  to the shell
With shell I mean this account would not be able to login  but would
exist their for Postgresql to run.

If yes can anyone please tell me how to go about this.

Any help / URL would be most welcomed.

I am Using :
PostgreSQL 7.3.4
RH 9.0
