For the curious this what it looks like after (I of course bumped the
check to the non-existent perl 5.11.10 version):

configure: WARNING:
*** The installed version of Perl, /usr/bin/perl, is too old to use
with PostgreSQL.
*** Perl v5.11.10 required--this is only v5.10.1, stopped at -e line 1.
