Not for me:

regression=# create table foo (f1 date);

CREATE
regression=#
regression=# insert into foo values ('1914/01/01');
INSERT 158325 1
regression=# select * from foo;

     f1
------------
 1914-01-01
(1 row)

The usual questions ensue: what PG version are you running, on what
platform, with what timezone and datestyle settings?
