Re: simple update closes connection. why?

I increased the debugging in postgresql.conf but not many changes

calling=# update calling set uname='joe';
DEBUG:  StartTransactionCommand
DEBUG:  ProcessQuery
server closed the connection unexpectedly
        This probably means the server terminated abnormally
        before or while processing the request.
The connection to the server was lost. Attempting reset: Failed.
