gmake does not finish on default slackware 9 (or 8.1) install

Hi all, 

I have just tried this with the same result on default
full install of slackware 8.1 and 9.0.

After installation (and download of pgsql 7.3.2) i ran
these commands :

tar -xzvf postgresql-7.3.2.tar.gz
cd postgresql-7.3.2
./configure
(worked fine)
gmake

gmake then ran into a infinite loop
i have piped gmake to a text file which shows where it
is looping etc.

http://www.stratocom.net/imos/pgsql-gmakelog.txt
