From the sound of things, there may be a new version of libreadline out there
which is incompatible with PostgreSQL 7.2.1.
Can you please post to PGSQL-GENERAL (NOT to pgsql-sql or directly to me),
what versions of Linux, GCC, and libreadline you have installed?
