pg_stat tables empty

Hi,

My statistics collector is not collecting any statistics and functions
such as pg_stat_get_tuples_fetched() return 0.

I have set run-time parameters thusly:

stats_command_string           | on
stats_reset_on_server_start    | on
stats_row_level                | on
stats_start_collector          | on

stats processes are running:

postgres  ... postgres: stats buffer process
postgres  ... postgres: stats collector process

I can't find any suspicious looking messages in syslog or postgres logs.

Any clues where to look next?
