Make sure you have ipc-daemon running.  See
http://www.tishler.net/jason/software/postgresql/postgresql-7.2.1.README
for a good guide.

When I try to create a database using the command: initdb sample

it always hangs on the statement: creating template1 database in
sample/base/1....

Any ideas?

TIP 2: you can get off all lists at once with the unregister command
