*Warm* standby servers don't accept connections / queries, so the
message above is quite ok. If you move to PostgreSQL 9.0+, there is "hot
standby" option, which lets you run read-only queries on standby server.

*Warm* standby servers don't accept connections / queries, so the message above is quite ok. If you move to PostgreSQL
9.0+,there is "hot standby" option, which lets you run read-only queries on standby server.
