Dear list, I wonder if I could get recommendations/reviews/experience for analytics tools that can work off Postgresql database. I guess ROLAP will be the natural solution, but is there a MOLAP engine that can work with Postgresql database? But established vendors' products don't seem to include support for Postgresql. (I may be wrong so I'm seeking opinion.) For example, Business Objects OLAP doesn't seem to work with Postgresql. Also, this may not be directly related with the database, but could anyone offer some opinions about Business Objects Crystal Enterprise Express? What we want is a ready-made capability to do usual business intelligence stuff, including analytical processing, ad-hoc report generation, allow users to dice/slice and drilldown/rollup the data, etc. Is there someone who uses Postgresql for data warehousing or data mining application? If so, what tools (ETL, ad-hoc reporting, etc.) work well with Postgresql? Is there any plans or projects for Postgresql in this application? Thanks. I may be wrong but I am pretty sure that Cognos can work with it. We have been happily using Brio/Hyperion Intelligence with postgresql via odbc. Mondrian just went 1.0 and support PostgreSQL. Never tried it, though. http://perforce.eigenbase.org:8080/open/mondrian/doc/index.html On Wed, Sep 22, 2004 at 09:21:54AM -0500, Ben Kim wrote: > > Dear list, > > I wonder if I could get recommendations/reviews/experience for analytics > tools that can work off Postgresql database. Thanks to all who replied. I guess I realize odbc may work for most of the products as long as the analytics tool works with RDBMS. We'll be explore the Mondrian option as well.
