RE: default password

The password (on my 6.1 system) is set to !! in the /etc/shadow file.  This
means you can't logon or su (from a normal user account) to the postgres
user without first changing the password by running "passwd postgres" as
root.

If you are root it shouldn't ask for a password....the user must be postgres
though
