Running postgres 13 with the docker alpine image.
I'm getting a segmentation fault about every 2 days.

or if it is core dump, than you can separate backtrace

Thanks for the issue, that is spot on.
So it looks like I won't be able to get a debug image for docker.

I have one question though. The core dump came from postgres 13.0 built for alpine. Would I be able to debug it, if I got postgres 13.0 on my macOS with the debug symbols and tried to debug on my local machine? Those binaries are different but come from the same version of postgres, would that work?

You cannot use binaries for docker for macOS. But if your application fails inside the image, then probably it fails on macOS too.

The problem is that I don't know how to make it fails.

I know that on my production server it fails randomly every two days.

Would it help more if I tried to get a backtrace with `bt full` rather than just `bt` like I did with the previous one?

I'm not sure how to move this forwad further.

You cannot use binaries for docker for macOS. But if your application fails inside the image, then probably it fails on macOS too.

Yeah that's pretty weird.  It's as if it has a bad address for the
lock (core data structures corrupted, somehow we got a crazy buffer
number from a corrupted buffer mapping table?), or the mapping just
went away (systemd removed it?  docker/lxc/whatever removed it?), but
then I suppose there'd be lots of different failure modes, so it's
probably not that.  Hmm.  In the case we see, it's a parallel query,
crashing in the leader process under ExecGather().  Is it always like
that?  Is it possible to see any variables in the core file?  For
example, looking in the frame for ReadBuffer_common:

Unless you've managed to install the debug symbols, I don't think that
will add anything.

(1) install the associated debug symbols package, or
(2) build from source and use --enable-debug configure option.

You could attach to a running backend process with gdb and see whether
"bt full" gives you more than minimal output.
