Bug in pgAdmin 3 1.23.0a LTS

Hi,
there appears to be a bug in bug in pgAdmin 3 1.23.0a LTS when I
Drag&Drop a script into the editor.

The script is read in fine but the editor doesn't remember the name of
the file. So when I want to save the changes, I need to select the
allready existing file and get asked if I want to overwrite it.

That would be just a bit anoying.

When I afterwards drop another file in the same editor panel, it gets
read in fine, too. But now the panel has still the filename of the first
file.
On save the first file gets overwritten with the contents of the second
file.

regards
Andreas

pgAdmin 3 is no longer supported I'm afraid.

yes, but there is this V1.23 LTS of BigSQL.

Sorry, I'm not quite up to speed about who is who.
Up until now I had PG from EnterpriseDB and pgAdmin3 which is rather
well doing what it needs to do.

pgAdmin 4 ... well it's nice to look at but besides that I couldn't drag
& drop SQL-files into it's editor at all.
I couldn't even figure out how to search&replace something in the editor.
At least Ctrl F wouldn't do and there is no icon to click either.

:(

That is nothing to do with us.

No, that's not currently supported.

That is resolved for 1.2 however.

Their Installer is on the PostgreSQL.org download-page.
Yesterday I didn't pay enough attention and grabbed the first
installer-link I saw.

> No, that's not currently supported.

The v1.1 that I got now in the EnterpriseDB-installer of PG can read
scripts by drag&drop.
I'm rather sure the v1.1 I got yesterday couldn't.

It reads the script into the editor but the editor doesn't remember
where it came from. So one drops a file from deep in the folder-tree and
to save it again one has to traverse the whole tree from the root to get
to the right folder.

Where can I get the 1.2?
An editor without search&replace is a wee bit suboptimal.

BTW is there a plan to get free floating editor-windows again?
Having them restricted to just the pgAdmin window is not really helpful
with more than one monitor.

Right, but it's not on pgadmin.org.

That's odd - they're the same code. It's possible one of the devs made
D&D work despite it not being a requirement.

<tests>....

Hmm, yes - it does seem to work on macOS, both in desktop and server modes.

Yeah :-(

It's not out yet, but you can get the code from the GIT repo
(https://git.postgresql.org/gitweb/?p=pgadmin4.git). You should be
able to just replace the web/ directory in your installation with web/
from the repo, as long as you keep the config*.py files. Backup
everything first though, in case it goes wrong.

It's on the TODO list, yes.

Sorry to bother you, but I'm stuck.

I'm no fit with git and what to in detail but I managed to git clone
pgadmin4 to a Linux VM.
git clone git://git.postgresql.org/git/pgadmin4.git

Then moved the web-folder to the place where it is in the PG-Tree on my
windows box.

When I start pgAdmin4 now, I get an error:
An error occured initialising the application server:
Failed to launch the application server, server thread exiting.

Then a dialog appears and asks for Python Path and Application Path.
I entered the paths acording the README as:

f:\programme\PostgreSQL\9.6\pgAdmin
4\venv\Lib\site-packages;f:\programme\PostgreSQL\9.6\pgAdmin
4\venv\Lib;f:\programme\PostgreSQL\9.6\pgAdmin
4\venv\Lib\lib-tk;f:\programme\PostgreSQL\9.6\pgAdmin 4\venv\DLLs

f:\programme\PostgreSQL\9.6\pgAdmin 4\web\

No luck :(

Btw. The editor in pgAdmin3 has the option to show SQL keywords in
capital letters. Is this on the wishlist allready?

Oh sorry - I forgot there's a change in the required dependencies for Python (so you should roll back your changes). When I'm back in the office tomorrow, I'll see if I can roll you a custom build. Please remind me if I forget!

Thanks.

I put a build at
https://developer.pgadmin.org/~dpage/pgadmin4-1.1-x86.exe. There's a
Mac build there as well for anyone that wants it:
https://developer.pgadmin.org/~dpage/pgadmin4-1.1.dmg

Both are *completely untested*.
