Omar,

Please stop changing my content related commits without discussion.

Yes they do - this is a community project, not a commercial website.

The three major contributors who have made themselves known to us have
been listed. The ones that have not been included are regular team
members such as myself, Robert and Gavin who have done far less work by
comparison.

No, that is true. We really need that as a separate item so we can
change the banner headline without losing it.

In my opinion the elephant is one of the things that gave the site it's
instant appeal. Without it the front page looks bland and uninteresting.

Also, you've added a 'Download Now' link. Under the PostgreSQL 8.0
banner (and in the same box) that reads as if you can download
PostgreSQL 8 already. Shifting the description into another box would
fix that of course.

Hi there,

Please, change link to russian postgresql site on http://wwwdevel.postgresql.org/community/international
to http://www.linuxshare.ru/postgresql/ which looks better.

Also, I'd like to see at, least, www.pgsql.ru listed on resources page
(http://wwwdevel.postgresql.org/community/resources).

That particular design element was meant to contain specific content--a
product announcement. It was changed it to something that makes no sense
in that context.

You didn't discuss the content in the first place, either. You need to
consult the designer before making changes to the *design*.

So what? The names are not part of that design element.

Making it a news item is exactly what the news items are there for.

Just to fill everyone else in, here is what the content was:

"After many months of work on the part of a number of people, the
PostgreSQL web team are proud to release the new website to the
community. In particular, special thanks are given to Andreas
Grabmüller, Alexey Borzov and Omar Kilani for the hard work they've put
in building the framework and developing the site."

This isn't a product announcement. It does not belong in the product
announcement box. It looks very much like a news item, however.

Alexey needs to be added under Developer Profiles.

Really? What about Emily? The person who designed the site? Organised
it? Put up much of the content?

It should always be *part of* the product announcement box. It was
originally.

Hardly. The elephant was announcing the release of 8.0. Since you made
the decision to put up the site prior to the release (which wasn't what
was originally discussed--the design is for the launch of 8.0; there's
no point putting it up before then), it has no place there. By
introducing the elephant at launch, you're emphasising the importance of
the release of 8.0.

It should say "Welcome" in the heading, until the release of
8.0--something generic and muted. Then it will revert back to
"PostgreSQL 8.0 Out Now!" on release, as was intended.
