are there any good design ttols for postgres? i found dbdesigner - cant even save projects dezign - looks good, but only windows do you know of any other? janning

But it runs onw windows. It is able to connect to my postgress 7.1.3 on RH 7.2 without any troubles. It creates DB and tables, constraints etc. But if your talking about something that models. This is not the tool. John

I have used PowerDesigner from Sybase. It supports Postgresql (amongst 50 other database types, from Oracle, Sybase to postgresql, ANSI SQL or dBase). You draw tables, relations and specialisations and with one click on a button all "create table" and "create trigger" statements are created for you. It can generate big reports too. If you have an ODBC connection to your database it can create the database too (or *change* the current model to the new version) It has some 'limimations' though - windoze only (though it might run under VMware) - it has a, erm, 'professional' price tag You can download a fully function time-limited evaluation version from www.sybase.com. (and there seem to be no cracks available..) I really like it.
