Обсуждение: Postmaster failed to start
Hi, What's instaled on my NT Installed cygwin 1.1.8 from fresh Installed cypipc-1.08-1.tar.gz from fresh Installed postgresql-7.0.3 from fresh initdb started ipc-daemon & postmaster -i & I installed PostgeSQL on Windows NT like KevinLo disscipted in his installation procedure. The installation finished with no error. When I do 'postmaster -i&' I get this message: C:\cygwin\usr\local\pgsql\bin\postgres.exe: *** recreate_mmaps_after_fork_failed Startup failed - abort NOTICE: IpcMemoryDetach: shmdt(0x0x4d10000): Invalid argument NOTICE: IpcMemoryDetach: shmdt(0x0x4c50000): Invalid argument NOTICE: IpcMemoryDetach: shmdt(0x0x4c40000): Invalid argument I've reinstalled these 3 times and am still getting these errors. Can some body help? Thanks -Jeff
Cygwin 1.1.8 is known to break PostgreSQL. Installing version 1.1.7 of the 'cygwin' package fixed the problem for me. See Jason Tishler's recent emails about this very subject.
