Bad HTML in Mail List Archives

Is it just me, or are the mail list archives still generating HTML
that's missing close table tags, so the pages cannot be viewed on
Linux Netscape 4.78?

Individual messages still aren't showing, eg
http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-hackers/2002-07/msg00756.php

    http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-hackers/2001-03/msg00965.php

still doesn't work for me.

It might be worth putting the pages through an HTML validator.

I did, but there are >160 000 pages right now, and some are using the
*old* formatting ... I'm going to have to re-run all the messages through,
it appears :(

Hi Marc,

Rats...

Regarding the URL:

http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-hackers/2002-07/msg00756.php

Netscape 4.79 on Windows doesn't like it (blank page). :(

Mozilla 1.1a on Windows is ok with it.

Regards and best wishes,

Looking at the source of that page, I see an html/head/title followed by
another html/head/title declaration. Also AFAICT there are two open
table tags and only one close table tags, and I don't see a close center
tag for the tag opened after body. If I had to guess, I'd say it's the
missing end table tag that's hoarking up NS4.7. HTH

Same here. Eyeballing the html source, it still looks like the <table>
environment isn't being closed out.

Okay, according to W3C's validator, this URL now appears to come out okay
... I'm once more regenerating them all from the raw files, which
generally takes an hour or two, after which, let me know if there are any
further ones that aren't being displayed properly :(

That one is now working fine. Thanks for fixing this!

BTW, for others looking for an alternative to Netscape that's not bloated
as Mozilla is, you might look at the graphical version of links:
