Hello,

I am having trouble installing postgresql on Windows XP Professional.
After searching within the archived emails, I've  tried every suggestion regarding this problem..
Installing the newest cygipc, starting ipc-daemon before initdb doesn't seem to help.

When I try "initdb -d /usr/share/postgresql/data" I get the following error:
creating template1 database in=20 /usr/share/postgresql/data/base/1... IpcSemaphore Create: semget(key=3D1, num=3D17, 03600) failed: Function not= implemented initdb failed.

Removing /usr/share/postgresql/data

If anyone has any suggestions, please send them along.
Help will be greatly appreciated!

BTW, you should use "-D" not "-d" above.

Sounds like a package version mismatch.

What does the following indicate?

    $ cygcheck -c cygipc cygwin postgresql
