That's odd. Can you give a more detailed step-by-step description of what you do, from launching PgAdmin III to the hang? Does PgAdmin III respond to the close box? Or do you have to End Task it? -- Craig Ringer Tech-related writing: http://soapyfrogs.blogspot.com/

When you say "select a database", are you double-clicking on it to connect to that database? Does the red "x" disappear off it, showing it to be connected? Does the problem happen with any database? Or just one? Can you browse the contents of databases, create databases, and perform all other tasks fine? Is it *just* SQL editing that's failing? In your situation, I'd attach a debugger to PgAdmin III and see where it was hung. I don't know if the EnterpriseDB installer packages the .pdb files (debug information) for PgAdmin III, though, and without that a debugger on Windows is pretty useless. I'll have to check when I have access to Windows once I'm home if nobody can confirm sooner. -- Craig Ringer Tech-related writing: http://soapyfrogs.blogspot.com/
Please reply to the list, not just to me. I've CC'd the list in on my reply and preserved your message below, but it's best to CC the list in from the start. Just use "reply all" in your email program. Anyway: the fact that just SQL editing is failing is very odd. Do you have other 64-bit Windows 7 machines? And does the same thing happen on them too? I don't have access to 64-bit Windows 7, only 32-bit, so it's going to be hard for me to test this one out. Hopefully someone else on the list can step up and verify that the SQL editor works fine for them on win7 64-bit (or not) so we can proceed from there. > OK. Hi, I'm having the same problem: Query Tool hangs pgAdminIII. I'm running Windows 7 and first experienced the problem with pgAdmin version 1.12.0 and postgresql 9.0.1. The bizarre thing is, the behavior persists even after a full reinstall (both programs uninstalled, registry keys deleted, net user account removed). I re-uninstalled the programs and upgraded to pgAdminIII 1.12.2 and postgresql 9.0.3-1, and the behavior persists. Any suggestions? I believe the behavior started after trying to run a very large (~100Mb) query, the product of xml2sql (to parse part of a wikipedia dump). But that doesn't explain the persistence after reinstall, since I also deleted all the log files (all I could find at least). I too am experiencing this problem, which has only appeared today. I have been running queries against million-record sized tables...so it was using probably a bunch of memory. My entire computer froze mid-work as I was typing in a query (not running it), and I had to hard-reboot...now i can't run the query tool. Could it be a result of the hard-reboot? -- View this message in context: http://postgresql.1045698.n5.nabble.com/BUG-5679-pgAdminIII-1-12-0-hangs-tp2854737p3390239.html Sent from the PostgreSQL - bugs mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

You probably need to try the pgadmin-support list: http://www.pgadmin.org/support/list.php This list is for bugs in core PostgreSQL. --=20 Robert Haas EnterpriseDB: http://www.enterprisedb.com The Enterprise PostgreSQL Company
Thank You, Sir, I have repaired this big currectly just by deleting the postgresql under the Application directory of my user under Document and Setting, that's perfect and clever, why You do post your name on the advice, that's smart.
