Details:
If i make an
SELECT xmlconcat(('<datanode>' || NULL || '</datanode>')::xml);
follows
server closed the connection unexpectedly
This probably means the server terminated abnormally
before or while processing the request.

It's fixed in 8.3.7:
wombat=3D> SELECT xmlconcat(('<datanode>' || NULL || '</datanode>')::xml);
xmlconcat

Consider upgrading your installation to the latest minor release of
8.3. It's highly recommended.

seems to work fine on 8.3.7
that inner expression -is- a NULL, so xmlconcat(NULL) is itself a
null. not much use.
