Hi, openSUSE 12.1 pgadmin version 1.14.0(Oct 30, 2011) REl-1_14_0 Postgres 8.4 I installed pgadmin using Yast. First I'm new to this interface and it could be that I'm doing something wrong. I have used earlier version of pgadmin for years without issues. 1. None of the messages that normally appear in dialog boxes - i.e. the standard message about saving passwords dialog text is completely blank after adding a server. 2. I can't restore any of the backups I make (I always get an exit with error ) Yet I don't see anything in the command from earlier versions. The backups exit with a 0. Could someone explain the correct procedure to make a restore-able backup and what is required to restore the backup. Thanks in advance, Johnf

I hope somebody will check the install from openSUSE 12.1 and determine the problem. I don't know enough to really help (other than reporting here). Johnf

I installed using Gnome with no KDE so I can't comment on what happens in KDE. I'm sure that dbus was broken in my upgrade, could not get pulseaudio to work correctly, and several other things so went back to 11.4. I did not get the chance to see if pgadmin worked in 12.1 since it refused to do anything once it found I had a 9.0 data backend. So I'm connecting to an 8.4 install on a server. I did attempt to use the CLI also without success. I'm sure there is something wrong with the install of pgadmin because 1.14 has been out for sometime at this point. It might be something to do with the 64bit issue - but that's a guess. Johnf

I'm sure you have checked this already, but if the CLI to psql also fails, does this not indicate an issue with the server, and not necessarily pgadmin since pgadmin is not involved in this case? FWIW My 1.14 pgadmin on OpenSUSE 11.4 works fine (with a few minor issues already noted) on local and remote servers.
