initdb problem with cvs

Hi,

I again have a problem with initdb. After re-downloading of cvs
several days ago it worked, but yesterday i got the same problem - 
hangup during initdb. This time the trick with re-downloading doesn't
helps :-( Are there somebody lucky with current cvs on Linux, libc5 system ?
Could be the problem that I'm using egcs snapshot instead of gcc 2.7.2
