I agree, but how about this?:
   if (FLOAT8PASSBYVAL) {     datums = (Datum *)floats;   } else {     datums = palloc0(arrlen * sizeof(Datum));
for(i = 0; i < arrlen; i++) {       datums[i] = Float8GetDatum(floats[i]);     }   }
