Running out of free buffers

Hi,

I have recently set up a web interface to a database and this has been
working fine until recently, when PHP complained that it could not make a
connection due to running out of free buffers. Restarting both Apache and
PostgreSQL fixed the problem.

When the problem happened the database had been running for about two
weeks without a restart. The connection is always a pg_pconnect. The
problem would not always happen but about two thirds of connection
attempts would get dropped.

Does anyone know what is causing this,

PS: I am using PHP 4.0.2 with PostgreSQL 7.0.2.
